In 2000-2001, water use in the household sector was 2.2 million mega litres (ML), a stunning 8.8% of total water consumed in Australia (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2005.) That’s a lot of water and it’s our best drinking water too. Can you imagine buying bottled water and pouring it on your garden at $2 or $3 dollars per 600ml? Most Australian bottled water is just tap water.With every major city in the country desalinating water we will be paying that much for our tap water soon enough.

Waterwise Systems®’hard work in the area of greywater education was recognised recently when the company was given government funding to promote community greywater use in Sydney.

Waterwise Systems® has been awarded a Government Grant from the NSW Government’s Climate Change Fund to conduct a community greywater demonstration project in high water using areas across Sydney.

Waterwise Systems® will install 70 greywater diversion systems in homes across Sydney to monitor their water savings, and showcase their effectiveness to the community. In return for participating in promotion, participants will receive a $1000 rebate on the Greywater Gardener 230™ and a gift package containing garden-friendly products.

So far, results from participants have been amazing! Participants are saving an enormous amount of water and enjoying watering their gardens with shower, bath and washing machine water.
